About the Captain
Capt. Tripp Wood has gained experience within Prince William Sound over the past twelve years. He started out as a sport fisherman, and moved on to becoming a Charter Captain of his own vessel, as well as a commercial fisherman.
Eager to explore every bay of the Sound and learn its fishing secrets, he has spent thousands of hours on the water, in all kinds of weather. He is also a history buff, and has read many of the books regarding the area’s rich past. As a previous elementary school teacher, he loves to pass this information on to others that share an interest.
He has also served as a successful airline captain, and is a professional breeder and trainer of specialized Labrador Retrievers. Hobbies include fishing, hunting, gold mine exploration, float plane piloting, and scuba diving.
He is known for his warm personality and friendliness towards all. Although tolerant of just about everyone, his personal values are more traditional and family oriented. He is married, has four sons and three grandsons. He is a non-smoker, and does not allow smoking aboard his boat.
